There is a font created for people with dyslexia!


People with dyslexia see mirror images, mixed up, and rotated letters. To assist in typing and reading online, a software was developed that thickens the bottom of letters so that they are easier to read and harder to confuse!

Other changes made to the letters include widening of gaps in letters, add slight italics to letters to distinguish from one another (like j, l, and d), and bolden punctuation among other things. Here is a video demonstration of the font

In 2006, Britain had the best dental hygiene!


Although stereotypes dictate that citizens of Britain have bad teeth, in reality, they have some of the healthiest! The OECD reported among selected countries, both Britain and Germany average at less than one decaying/missing tooth among children! Which country has the worst dental hygiene on average?

Among the countries researched, Poland has the worst teeth at almost four decaying/missing teeth in its child population! The United States is ranked at #10 with a little over one decaying/missing teeth on average. To see if your country’s pearly whites were evaluated, click the Source below!

The first webcam was created to watch a coffee pot!


In 1991, a camera was installed to capture pictures of the coffee pot in the Trojan Room of the old computer lab at the University of Cambridge! The idea behind it was to allow people to see if there was still coffee without having to go from their respective departments/rooms to the pot!

The image was 128x128 feed of the famed coffee pot on the user’s desktop in grayscale. Years later, the ‘Trojan Room coffee pot’ was auctioned off on eBay for £3350 ($5268.55)! To watch a new live feed of coffee, click here

Bubble wrap was intended to be used as wallpaper!


In 1957, inventors Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes attempted to create a 3D wallpaper. Unfortunately, the wallpaper didn’t catch on but the men realized that it was useful for packing delicate items for shipping!

The success and popularity of bubble wrap has gotten so large that the last Monday of every January is dubbed “Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day”. Toy company Bandai even created a virtual bubble wrap popping toy called “Mugen Puchipuchi” and a version was created for the Wii! Do you like popping bubble wrap? In 2000, Japan voted instant noodles as their top invention!


Although the country was also responsible for such inventions of the 1900s such as the Walkman, small cameras, computer games, and Pokemon, Ramen noodles were voted as the best idea from their country!

The #2 spot went to karaoke! After its conception, the food industry in Japan thought the food was just a fad that would die out over time. However, instant noodles are one of the most popular food items in the world today! In fact, instant noodles are Japan’s best exports! If you're a college student, we're pretty sure you agree.
